A Thing or Two About a Dream (currently in post production)

by Frankie Raye

Releasing September 2016. Frankie Raye's "A Thing or Two About a Dream" contains 8 original tracks. This follow-up album is a collection of painfully honest and witty songs delivered through catchy and up-beat melodies, with hints of 1950's pop, older Broadway, and 1990's acoustic coffee-shop music.

by Frankie Raye

Frankie's debut CD, "Chapters", was recorded in her bedroom with producer, Charles N'Bu-Eke. The CD is composed of songs that she has written over the years, and her style is a cross between Joni Mitchell and Alanis Morissette. With her powerful voice and wide vocal range, Frankie's upbeat melodies are infused with tongue-in-cheek lyrics, though certain songs fail to hide her seriousness.

The introducing lullaby was sung to her as a baby by her father who passed away during adolescence - a chapter in her life that is revisited later in the album. Her "Perfect Song" gives a humorous, yet self-deprecating step-by-step of her struggles with the songwriting process, while "My Old Town" is a serious melody dealing with the passing of time. In "Hello", a happy melody is ironically coupled with angry lyrics, and the album's title track, "Chapters", deals with her insecurities and uncertainties. Overall, the album is an honest account of the journeys through different chapters in her life - chapters that everyone has written.

Frankie Raye is a full-time musician who has been featured on WTSP "Studio 10" talk-show, WMNF 88.5's "Musician's Wanted", Tampa Bay Times "Artist of the Day", and was a selected performer for the 2016 Hard Rock June Acoustic Music Showcase (an event sponsored by 98 Rock and iheartradio). She regularly performs with her band at various venues around Florida (to date, she has appeared in 25 cities at over 60 venues, including the notable Hard Rock Casino and Steinbrenner Field).

Currently, Frankie is working with her trio to complete her upcoming album, "A Thing or Two About a Dream," scheduled to release in the fall of 2016. Frankie released her debut 10-track CD, "Chapters", in 2014.
